For more than 60 years, HGP – Hommes Grenouilles de Paris and Au Vieux Campeur have shared a common history rooted in French diving. One designed equipment for divers, while the other selected and distributed the gear that would accompany generations of underwater explorers.
The Diver 200M Automatic – Au Vieux Campeur Edition marks the return of a historic watch associated with Au Vieux Campeur. More than a reissue, it celebrates a unique relationship between two institutions that helped shape the history of diving in France.
At the heart of this edition lies the iconic MONNIN® 844 case. Used by some of the most significant French professional and military dive watches of the 1970s and 1980s, it remains a benchmark among tool-watch enthusiasts today. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the case preserves the qualities that made it successful: robustness, legibility, wearing comfort, and 200 meters of water resistance.
The dial incorporates several elements directly inspired by the historic Au Vieux Campeur watch. A large luminous triangle at 12 o’clock immediately structures the display, while the “Au Vieux Campeur” signature sits above HGP’s iconic Scuba Dude. A red inner 24-hour scale adds an additional layer of information while reinforcing the instrument-like character of the watch.
Specific to this edition, the bezel draws inspiration from historic Au Vieux Campeur watches, featuring a luminous triangle at 12 o’clock and enhanced graduations over the first twenty minutes. An oversized luminous “lollipop” seconds hand, a hallmark of many French dive watches of the period, completes the design.
The exclusive caseback brings together the Au Vieux Campeur and HGP shields in an original composition featuring two Scuba Dudes. A symbol of transmission, shared passion, and continuity, it materializes the historic bond between the two houses.
Assembled in France, water resistant to 200 meters, and powered by the robust and reliable Seiko NH35 automatic movement, the Diver 200M Automatic – Au Vieux Campeur Edition was conceived as a genuine diving instrument.
More than a tribute to the past, it marks the meeting of two institutions of French diving and demonstrates that the best tools continue to accompany those who explore.
