Description
The Toledano & Chan b/1
The idea behind the b/1 was to create an entirely sculptural watch, where the aesthetic was continued through the watch head, bracelet and hands. A "continuous concept" design.
The b/1 draws from two major sources of inspiration. The Rolex Midas and early 1970's integrated bracelet watches; and more importantly, the brutalist architect Marcel Breuer, and the original Whitney museum he designed in New York-more specifically, the window of the Breuer building. This window became the basis for the design of the watch head itself, the bracelet following that aesthetic. The final result is a collision between these two ideas. Part 1970's watch, part brutalist architecture, entirely new. The watch is made with 904 steel, a Swiss selita sw100 movement, and a lapis dial.
