Description

Ten years after creating its first movement, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud unveils its new collection, “Mesure du Temps 1787”, whose principle is to reveal the mechanical beauty of the movement on the dial side.

A mechanical show staged on the dial side

Chapter 1 of this collection introduces the first model featuring this innovative architecture: the Chronomètre FB 2TV. Its Calibre FB‑TV.FC features a constant-force regulating device combining a tourbillon and a fusée-and-chain, while introducing a profoundly reimagined architecture after six years of research. Among its 1,240 components, enhanced by 300 hours of manual finishing, the 15 mm flying tourbillon, without an upper bridge, stands out and reinforces the movement’s visual impact.

Two complications dedicated to precision timekeeping

Two unprecedented complications enhance this movement. The first is a stop-seconds mechanism that allows the movement to be stopped for precise adjustment. The second is a flyback-type zero-resetting of the seconds hand, which can be activated by a coaxial pusher embedded in the dynamometric winding crown.

A thoroughly reengineered movement

The movement also benefits from significant optimisations: a new fusée geometry, a double stopwork system (upper and lower), a compact planetary differential system ensuring continuity of operation during winding, and a barrel equipped with a new pre-winding system. These developments ensure more constant torque, a power reserve extended to 60 hours, and faster winding.

A case and display designed to magnify the mechanism

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Chronomètre FB 2TV offers a harmonious three-dimensional architecture that showcases the mechanics. The off-centre display of hours and minutes, the central titanium seconds hand, and the power reserve indication via a mobile cone ensure both readability and technical coherence. The entire assembly is housed in a 44 mm white gold case.

Produced in a highly limited series (10 to 12 pieces per year), the Chronomètre FB 2TV thus embodies the convergence of traditional horological architecture, mechanical innovations dedicated to chronometry, and the sculptural highlighting of each component of the movement.
