Description

Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture

The Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture is a one-of-a-kind design with a Bloodstone dial. Until very recently, it was especially rare for this mineral to be used in watchmaking. Bloodstone belongs to the oxides class. As a result, it contains high traces of aluminium, iron and potassium. Each of these leaves a multitude of graceful inclusions at the heart of the stone. It can sometimes contain flecks of black, pale or dark green, and even red. Each fragment is unique, constituting a mineral patchwork with impressive aesthetic vivacity.

Against this palette, Frederique Constant deploys its renowned perpetual calendar. In 2016, this elite complication – requiring the most exacting watchmaking expertise – was made available to the widest possible audience. Ten years after its release, the Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture remains the most affordable of its Swiss Made counterparts. This timepiece will only be offered in a limited edition of 37 (marking the 37th anniversary of the Maison in 2025).

The 40-millimetre case holds a dial whose tricompax day/month/date display is a model of legibility. The leap year indication, a more secondary detail, sits discreetly in the month counter. The moonphase completes the composition at six o’clock and reveals a glimpse of the handmade cut-out in the Bloodstone. A sapphire caseback offers an intimate look at its new Manufacture FC-776 calibre, decorated with perlage and côtes de Genève stripes. Its power reserve has been extended to a full three days (72 hours).

Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
