A NEW HOROLOGICAL CONCEPT
COSMO introduces a new horological concept: an entire mechanism, magnetically suspended and rotating continuously on its own axis.
ONE REVOLUTION, MULTIPLE DISPLAYS
COSMO's 14.5-kilogram mechanism completes one revolution on its own axis every sidereal day.
The relative motion of its components rotating at different speeds generates a complete array of time, calendar and astronomical indications.
COSMO simultaneously displays for a specific location on Earth:
Standard Time – Solar Time – Day – Date – Month – Zodiac – Sunrise – Sunset – Dawn – Dusk – Twilight – Apparent Position of the Sun and Stars – Daylight Saving Time.
TWO ECCENTRIC GEARS – ONE PATENT - 406 DAYS
The patented transmission system based on only two eccentric gears forms the foundation of COSMO's entire mechanical architecture.
Directly powered by the mainspring, it drives:
the mono-component flexure-based remontoire;
the large low-frequency escapement regulated by a 70 mm magnetically suspended balance wheel;
the continuous rotation of the entire mechanism.
The patented system delivers 406 days of power reserve from a single winding despite these exceptional energy demands.
The system is also designed to directly integrate the stopwork mechanism and the power reserve indicators.
THE DOME: USER INTERFACE AND ACOUSTIC RESONATOR
Far more than an exquisite handcrafted enclosure, the hand-blown Murano glass dome serves as a user interface to wind and to set COSMO.
It also reveals the astronomical indications and the luminous stars visible above a specific location at a precise moment.
At the owner's request, the dome acts as an acoustic resonator, amplifying the beating of the energy-optimised escapement and making it audible.
