Seen from Earth, Venus is, after the Sun and the Moon, the clearest object in the sky and has about the same size, mass and composition as earth. Nevertheless, living on the planet Venus is impossible as the average temperature is 462 degrees Celcius (864°F) and its atmospheric pressure is 90 times more than that of planet earth.

The new Venus is equipped with the - in 2024 introduced - CKM-01 movement, with the newly developed, extremely sophisticated, astronomical Venus module. The dial consists of 4 separate discs, of which 3 discs are rotating and carrying the celestial bodies, Venus, Earth and Moon.

The dials shows a planetarium, a part of our solar system. The real-time position and orbits of the planet Venus and planet earth around the sun as well as the position and the orbit of the moon around planet earth

The Venus Annual Calendar is a more technical interpretation of the Venus models and carries its celestial bodies on white, almost matt dial. On the outside ring, the Annual Calendar shows the days of the month in black and white rail track, housed in sections of each month, indicating the length of that month.

Because of this scaled print of the date-track, the Venus Annual Calendar needs only one correction every 4 years, the corrections can be done very conveniently via the crown.

On the discs that carry the planets you can find particular information, like Earth’s orbit time around the sun that takes 365.2 days. The orbital speed of the Earth around the Sun is a mind boggling 107,206 Km per hour, that of Venus is even faster at 126,071 Km per hour.

The time that Venus needs to make one full orbit around the Sun is 224.7 days. This astronomical masterpiece shows the phases of the moon in an unusual and innovative manner. If the Moon is exactly between the Sun and the Earth, it is a ‘new Moon’. If the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun, it is a ‘full Moon’.

And why do we have this complication, and the name ‘Venus’? Because it is based on the ‘old’ Venus from approx. 2006. That watch also showed the orbit of Venus and Earth around the Sun, while the Moon is orbiting Earth with its own orbital time. Back in the day, the watch was based on an ETA movement, with the wonderful module made by Mr. van der Klaauw.

Nowadays it houses our own beautiful movement (CVDK CKM-01 movement) with star-shaped bridges, beveled by hand and rhodium plated. And the skeletonized rose gold-plated brass rotor, shaped into the CVDK logo.

The CKM-01 movement in the Venus is the same as in the Planetarium, Real Moon Joure and Grand Planetarium from 2024 and newer.
