Description
Conceived in the spirit of La Montre Objet d’Art, the DANIEL ROTH Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton reinterprets Extra Plat through the art of skeletonisation. While preserving the refined proportions and architectural purity of the iconic double-ellipse case, the watch fully reveals the new calibre DR002SR.
Both the thin 6.9mm case and the movement are crafted in solid 5N rose gold, forming a luminous composition of warm metallic tones, suspended negative space, and hand-finished surfaces in perfect architectural harmony. The decision to craft the components and case in gold was driven by both technical and aesthetic considerations, providing clarity to the handcrafted work and paying homage to traditional finishing.
The manually wound DR002SR is entirely manufactured in-house at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Its bridges and mainplates are completely redesigned for skeletonisation, creating a movement architecture defined by lightness and transparency, without compromising rigidity or chronometric performance.
Each bridge is meticulously bevelled by hand, revealing polished angles that capture light from every angle. The DR002SR is further distinguished by numerous sharp internal angles - among the most demanding expressions of traditional haute horlogerie finishing – that are impossible to execute by machine.
Traditional watchmaking techniques and legibility remained central to the construction of the Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton, where a philosophy of “less is more” allows the tone-on-tone finishing and the movement's depth to emerge with proportional clarity and elegance.
Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
