Credor’s special engraving technique

This model highlights a special engraving technique, refined by Credor over more than thirty years. Linear engravings across the dial and movement combine the precision of Japanese craftsmanship with the delicacy required for ultra-thin watchmaking. Artisans tailor each tool to their hand and design, enabling precise control that protects components as thin as 0.25mm while enhancing light reflection. Despite the technical challenges, their refined sensitivity ensures engraving that is both delicate and sharply defined.

Engraving on the dial

Fine engraving applied to the dial creates a smooth, satin-like texture that radiates outward from the center, diffusing light with feather-like softness. Achieving a seamless pattern across the dial’s two layered sections requires exceptional skill. Ultra-fine linear engraving defines the Roman numerals, harmonizing with the radial pattern. The minute track features nanako engraving, a traditional Japanese technique consisting of a series of finely aligned dots, adding a subtle brilliance to the dial. Each sharp, sparkling dot is individually created with a chisel tipped with a small, rounded end.

Engraving on the movement

From the back, bold linear engravings extend from the tourbillon carriage, expressing the creative spirit that drives Credor’s artisans. Each line cannot be completed in a single stroke; instead, it requires multiple passes executed with absolute consistency, ensuring the blade angle and depth remain unchanged. This unwavering approach demands exceptional concentration and sustained precision, particularly as the lines must extend seamlessly across four separate components, requiring perfect alignment. Nanako engravings again appear, punctuating the radiating lines and adding a sense of visual motion to the composition. There is also an arashi pattern – consisting of scattered dots individually engraved using a chisel with a hexagon-shaped tip –arranged with graduated spacing to impart texture.
