Description
GR-01
A tribute to human ingenuity.
It is the first piece from CEON, and the material representation of the ideas that are worth preserving.
The watch begins where it ends: in steel. Made from VC-150, a Brazilian tool alloy that, after heat treatment, reaches a hardness of up to 52 HRC and becomes ferromagnetic.
The hardness enables the maker's hand. Finishing techniques usually reserved for the inner parts of a watch — applied to the case, the bracelet, the chamfers.
The higher strength of the steel enables thinner parts that can handle the daily abuse.
Ferromagnetic VC-150 enables a slim, secure magnetic clasp — and a caseback that redirects the field away from the movement.
The Peseux 7001. A Swiss hand-wound caliber from 1971. One of the movements that pushed the industry through the quartz crisis.
What it is:
An integrated ultra-thin design, with case measuring 38 millimeters across, 44 millimeters lug-to-lug and only 6 millimeters thick. Synthetic sapphire on the dial side; VC-150 closed back for magnetic protection.
The bracelet matches the case — VC-150 throughout — and is hand-sanded, lapped, stonewashed. The chamfers are then finished by hand with pegwood and diamond paste. The result is a piece that plays with the light. A flicker of the wrist shows glimpses of light. The matte finish of the stonewash deceives — from far away, only color shades are reflected; look closely, and the mirror reveals itself.
Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
