Description
The Grandeur Tilt Sapphire presents a 24-degree angled, 60-second tourbillon housed within a fully transparent case architecture for an affordable price under 10,000 CHF. Historically, inclining a tourbillon regulator off-axis from the mainplate has been an elite mechanical feat reserved for low-volume, ultra-luxury watchmakers. Overcoming the geometric and gear-train challenges required to execute this architecture at an accessible price point constitutes a notable industrial achievement.
The hand-wound skeleton caliber is engineered entirely around this 24-degree inclination. From a technical standpoint, the off-axis tilt optimizes chronometric performance by ensuring the regulating organ continuously shifts through a wider variety of positions, neutralizing gravity's positional errors more effectively than a standard flat tourbillon. The floating cage completes a full rotation every 60 seconds, serving as the running seconds indicator.
To maximize the visibility of this mechanical layout, the conventional mid-case and bezel are replaced with a fully transparent case constructed from a specialized glass compound “Grandeur UltraClear 8”, measuring 8 on the Mohs scale. This case is 42.5mm in diameter and 16mm in thickness with a scratch-resistant coating and a 16-layer anti-reflective treatment. This structural transparency allows light to penetrate the movement from all directions, providing an unobstructed view of the gears, mainspring, and the angled tourbillon.
Complementing the architecture, the primary tourbillon bridge is precision-cut from a single piece of high-polished, transparent blue sapphire, creating the visual effect of a floating regulating organ. This component matches the blue-accented sapphire hour-and-minute dial and the integrated 50-hour power reserve indicator at 4 o'clock, unifying the movement's technical layout with a distinct, three-dimensional, holistic aesthetic.
