Description
The HB-1 is the first watch made by independent watchmaker John McGonigle under his own brand, Oiléan (pronounced ill-awn). John makes his watches in his workshop in Ireland. The HB-1 is powered by a highly modified new-old stock Valjoux 88 movement. All of the finishing is carefully done by hand. The movement is hand wound with approximately 40 hours of power reserve. It features a column wheel chronograph with hour recorder. It also features a triple-calendar mechanism with day, date and month as well as moonphase. The case is a contemporary design in grade 5 titanium. The chronograph mechanism can be admired through a sapphire crystal caseback, while the calendar and moonphase mechanism is visible though a skeletonised and smoked sapphire dial. Only 8 HB-1 are made each year.
Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
