Description
With the Escale Worldtime Tourbillon, Louis Vuitton reintroduces one of the most defining chapters in the Escale collection history. First launched in 2014, this complication holds a foundational place in the House’s watchmaking story. True to Louis Vuitton’s enduring Art of Travel, this exceptional timepiece reimagines universal time, elevating it through a mastery of both horological and artisanal savoir-faire.
Developed at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the automatic LFT VO05.01 caliber offers an instant, simultaneous reading of 24 time zones. The uniqueness of this model lies in its central flying tourbillon, a technical feat that required rethinking the caliber architecture to free up space in its center, while maintaining the rotating disc on the periphery of the movement. The result is a star-shaped Monogram Flower tourbillon, which completes a revolution every sixty seconds, and whose cage reveals components usually hidden from view.
The dial of the Escale Worldtime is a world unto itself. Twenty-four flags, each representing a major city across the globe, are rendered entirely in enamel and painted by hand. A painstaking miniature work that demands over 80 hours of craftmanship. Far more than decorative accents, these vivid medallions are a testament to the living tradition of fine enamelling. The watch’s signature lugs, inspired by the riveted corners and brackets of the House’s historic trunks, give the Escale its architectural silhouette, a shape that is instantly Louis Vuitton.
Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
