Description
The Maestro 2.0 Meteorite Silver showcases one of the most demanding expressions of Gerald Charles’ savoir-faire. At its centre lies a dial crafted from Muonionalusta meteorite, a material estimated to be more than 4.5 billion years old. Highly ferrous, extremely hard and inherently difficult to machine, meteorite cannot be cut using conventional techniques. Each dial is shaped through advanced electro-erosion processes and handled under controlled conditions to prevent oxidation, while its complex architecture is meticulously adapted to the distinctive Maestro case geometry.
Conceived as a tribute to the creative spirit of Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, the watch transforms cosmic matter into a narrative object. The Silver version represents the moment after impact, when energy subsides and matter crystallises. To express this concept, Gerald Charles developed a sophisticated two-layer dial construction combining a thin meteorite plate with an opaline silver-coloured aluminium baseplate. Radial apertures reveal the layer beneath, creating a three-dimensional composition that evokes the expanding shockwaves generated by the collision. Beyond its aesthetic impact, the dial represents a remarkable achievement in material craftsmanship, transforming a fragment of cosmic history into a finely engineered horological component.
At 6 o’clock, a sculptural small-seconds display forms the visual centre of the composition, while applied Roman numerals and indexes appear subtly displaced, reinforcing the impression of energy radiating across the dial. Gold-coloured accents further enhance the contrast between the meteorite’s natural crystalline structure and the refined architecture of the display.
The watch is powered by the automatic Manufacture Calibre GCA2011, featuring a central oscillating weight, a 50-hour power reserve and finely decorated bridges with colimaçon, Côtes de Genève and perlage finishes. Housed in a polished stainless-steel Maestro case measuring 39 x 41 mm and water-resistant to 100 metres, the Maestro 2.0 Meteorite Silver combines artistic storytelling, rare materials and contemporary Swiss watchmaking expertise in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
