Description
Chopard’s latest creation submitted to the Jewellery category of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève takes the form of an extraordinary pendant watch, conceived as a precious walnut. This singular piece exemplifies the Maison’s mastery of both Haute Joaillerie and Haute Horlogerie, combining sculptural creativity with mechanical sophistication.
This vegetal composition evokes the organic beauty of nature, brought to life through the virtuosity of Chopard’s atelier.
Both jewellery masterpiece and technical achievement requiring over nearly 600 hours of work by the Maison’s artisans, the precious walnut in a combination of rose gold, titanium and white gold opens to reveal a secret watch at its heart.
The exterior of the walnut is adorned with a subtle gradient of brown and cognac diamonds, lending depth and warmth to the piece, while its interior is entirely set with diamonds, unveiling a radiant surprise. When gently opened, the walnut reveals a deep blue dial illuminated with diamonds, displaying the hours, minutes and moonphase — a poetic complication that enhances the piece’s celestial dimension. On the inner half-shell facing the watch dial, a magnificent miniature composition unfolds against a backdrop of blue-tinted titanium. Set with diamonds, it depicts a dove captured in mid-flight, a universal symbol of peace and freedom. This motif is especially dear to Chopard, whose identity has been intrinsically linked to the spirit of freedom since 1976 through its iconic concept of free-moving diamonds.
