DIVIDO, a timepiece that embodies MINASE’s craftsmanship, is distinguished by its unique case construction, divided into both an upper and a lower section. Inspired by Japanese origami culture, and in particular by the folded form of a crane, its three-dimensional case is composed of multiple precisely crafted parts. Through meticulous machining and careful finishing, the case offers a broad range of rich aesthetic variations depending on the light and viewing angle.

This limited edition features a “Yusai” dial, created in collaboration with artist Towa Takaya, whose practice investigates how visual experience emerges through the interplay of light, material and body movement.

Takaya’s artistic inquiry lies in approaching realms of recognition and sensation that cannot be fully grasped through language, using color as her medium. “Otherwise than Being”, a work based on blue abstract painting, draws the viewer’s awareness toward the subtle tensions between self and other, closeness and distance, and the limits of understanding. Here, blue is not conceived as a single color, but as something deep, holding sensations, memories, conflicts, and longings that cannot be fully expressed in words.

Each dial is produced by hand. Multiple blue pigments and optical materials are layered to allow the color to sink, emerge, and reveal differently depending on the angle of light and the position of the viewer. The dial acts as a small pictorial space where light, material and body movement interact.

The dial’s distinctive liveliness resonates with DIVIDO’s case architecture, giving the watch a sense of depth and lingering resonance. In this meeting of Japanese precision craftsmanship and contemporary art, the watch becomes more than a mere instrument for measuring time, and opens up a space in which time itself may be experienced.
