Description
HOROHAN Bamboo Pavilion · Rising Jadeite
The name “HOROHAN” is derived from “Horology” and “Han”, the pinyin of “汉”, symbolising a watchmaking language shaped by Eastern culture and expressed through haute horology.
Born in Chengdu, China, the piece takes bamboo as its poetic spirit and jadeite as its structural soul. Crafted entirely in PT950 platinum, the case is set with natural jadeite, while the dial is densely paved with natural diamonds. Yet its essence is not jewellery decoration, but an expression of high independent watchmaking — of structure, proportion, mechanics, and traditional craftsmanship.
The inspiration comes from HOROHAN’s home in Chengdu — a traditional Sichuan courtyard house. The dial takes its cue from the stone paving of the central atrium, with natural diamonds arranged in circular, wave-like layers, evoking both the rhythm of courtyard stonework and the quiet growth of bamboo, joint by joint. Within the rectangular case, the circular diamond structure radiates from the centre, forming an Eastern order of “outer square, inner circle”. The horizontal baguette diamonds echo the rhythm of the stone paving, while the vertical jadeite elements stand like the joints of bamboo, bringing architecture, nature, and time into one composition.
The watch is powered by a rectangular hand-wound movement, finished and assembled according to traditional haute horlogerie techniques. The black-polished balance bridge, inward and outward angles, surface textures, edge finishing, and refined details all serve the mechanical architecture itself, making the movement not merely a source of power, but a central expression of independent watchmaking spirit.
The piece is supplied with two interchangeable casebacks: a hand-engraved platinum caseback with ascending abstract lines, symbolising bamboo’s joint-by-joint growth; and a sapphire display caseback revealing the rectangular hand-wound movement and its traditional finishing.
With jadeite as its bones and diamonds as its heart, time rises through structure, joint by joint. Within a small square, a world unfolds; between each joint, growth is revealed.
Supplied by the brand to the GPHG for its entry.
