Description
The FPA1 Sternenhimmel represents a decisive step in the evolution of Felipe Pikullik's work and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the atelier's pursuit of technical independence.
For many years, Felipe's watches were built upon carefully modified base calibres. While extensively transformed by hand and developed into creations with a distinct identity, the underlying architecture was never entirely his own. The FPA1 changes this reality. It is the first movement developed within the Berlin atelier as a proprietary foundation, conceived not as a modification of an existing calibre, but as an independent architecture designed from the ground up.
At the heart of the movement lies a hand crafted balance wheel, one of the most demanding components in traditional watchmaking and a symbol of the atelier's commitment to increasing technical autonomy. The movement also introduces a retrograde date mechanism integrated directly into the architecture of the calibre. Adjustment is performed through a discreet pusher integrated into the lug, allowing correction at any time without a restricted operating zone.
Particular attention was given to long term reliability and mechanical refinement. An enclosed click mechanism helps protect the movement from microscopic dust particles, while wolf tooth gearing contributes to smooth and stable transmission of energy throughout the gear train.
The Sternenhimmel was chosen as the first expression of this new architecture because of its importance within Felipe Pikullik's history. Introduced in 2021, it became one of the defining creations of the atelier and reflected Felipe's lifelong fascination with astronomy and the night sky. Its aventurine dial evokes the depth and stillness of the cosmos, inviting contemplation of humanity's place within a far greater universe.
Within the FPA1 architecture, the Sternenhimmel gains a new dimension. German silver bridges finished with tremblage create a living surface that contrasts with hand polished bevels, while the balance wheel becomes a visual focal point at the center of the composition. Both the balance bridge on the dial side and the balance cock on the movement side feature hand polished bevels and traditional hand engraving, underscoring the continued importance of artisanal craftsmanship within the atelier.
The FPA1 Sternenhimmel is more than a new model. It represents the foundation upon which future developments will be built and reflects Felipe Pikullik's ongoing pursuit of independent watchmaking in its most complete form.
