In 2023, Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled the Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante, a world first that immediately captivated connoisseurs. Not a complication created to measure performance, but a timepiece offering a unique kind of experience, the ability to add time on demand. An innovative idea executed with disarming clarity, bringing watchmaking back to its original purpose: to be a lifelong companion.
Its principle, unmatched to this day, is one of remarkable clarity: two superimposed minute hands, invisible to one another until the function is activated. Through this ingenious construction, a highly sophisticated mechanism becomes intuitive, transforming complexity into elegance. Three pushers orchestrate the function: one at 10 o’clock to add a minute, another at 8 o’clock to add five, and the crown to reset. The rhodium-plated hand indicates the real time. The rose gold hand marks the chosen interval. When the two hands meet again, the granted time has elapsed.
