The "Tremble" by American watchmaker J. Goodwin is a profound study in layered depth and manual horological decoration. Built upon the historic 6497 movement architecture—independently manufactured from the ground up by Goodwin to serve as a proprietary canvas—the timepiece showcases an uncompromising dedication to old-world artisan crafts.
The defining artistic signature of the piece is its extensive hand-executed Tremblage. Utilizing specialized hand-chisels, the watchmaker meticulously planes both the front and back plates of the movement. This creates a dense, granular, and organic frosted texture across the entire caliber that dynamically captures and scatters ambient light.
Suspended above this rich, hand-carved background is a custom skeletonized dial. The dial structure is meticulously painted and pad-printed with crisp Roman numerals and tracks, ensuring flawless legibility while seamlessly revealing the intense micro-stippled depth of the movement plates directly underneath. Completed with traditional hand-polished beveling (Anglage) and heat-blued steel screws, the "Tremble" brings classic, hand-crafted horology to life from Goodwin’s workshop in Alabama.
